Famous Dave's BBQ

Recommended over 700 times by voters, Famous Dave's BBQ tops the list of best places to get barbecue in and around Detroit.

With locations throughout southeast Michigan, Famous Dave's says its road to fame began 25 years ago when they searched for the best meats, seasonings and sauces around.

Bad Brad's BBQ

With two locations serving Metro Detroit, Bad Brad's BBQ says its philosophy of "From our Smoker to your Plate" is a passion that begins daily at 5:00 a.m.

Bad Brad's offers a lunch and dinner menu, offering items such as BBQ nachos, loaded BBQ cheese fries, BBQ sandwiches and even a build-your-own BBQ taco platter.

"By far the best BBQ in Michigan," said Penny. "Their BBQ'd Chicken Bacon Nachos are to live for!"

Slows Bar BQ

Located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit is Slows Bar BQ on Michigan Avenue.  The restaurant opened in 2005 and its signature Yardbird sandwich was even featured on television.

"This place is the real deal," said Mike. "Don't waste your time or money going anywhere else. The Apple BBQ sauce is the best I've ever tasted."

Other BBQ sandwiches featured on their menu include the Triple Threat Pork, with Applewood bacon, pulled pork and ham, and the Genius, with vegetarian 'chicken' coated in sweet sauce and topped with Slows's signature coleslaw and dill pickle strips.

Union Woodshop

The Union Woodshop says it started sometime back in 1995 from the ashes of the Clarkston Cafe and the fruits of the Clarkston Union.  Decades later, it has received awards, including best restaurant of the year in 2011 and also placing in this year's Vote 4 The Best contest.

It's menu, with gluten-free options, includes sandwiches and burgers that feature pulled pork tossed in North Carolina sauce, house made Michigan maple bacon, as well as beef briskets and babyback ribs.

"I recommend the back ribs with a side of sweet potato mash and the most-macked mac and cheese," said Beth on our contest page.
