Metro Detroit weather: Here's when to expect rain today

DETROIT – It's going to be a windy few days ahead, and some wet weather is moving in shortly from south to north across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario.

We'll see scattered rain showers this afternoon with a few breaks here and there hopefully including the evening drive. Still, expect a slower commute due to at least scattered showers in the area. We're feeling the warmest air of the day and likely of the week through the early to mid afternoon in the mid 60s with winds SE 10-20 mph gusting 30-40 mph at times.

This could create some issues with your Halloween decorations and maybe some flying debris on the roads, but it's also activating a Lakeshore Flood Advisory for St. Clair and Sanilac counties through midnight.

This means high water and wave action that could damage docks and cause minor flooding. Some heavier rain and thunderstorms are expected tonight around Metro Detroit lasting through part of your overnight hours.

Tuesday forecast

Early morning showers fade, and we may actually get a little sunshine to start your Tuesday in and around Metro Detroit. We'll start the day around 50 degrees and then only warm into the mid and maybe upper 50s.

Bottom line, there won't be much movement in temps tomorrow, and it will be about 10 degrees cooler than today. Clouds will fill in quickly through the late morning and afternoon leading to scattered, light rain showers in the afternoon. And, don't forget we'll have more gusty winds SW 10-20 mph gusting 20-35 mph at times.

Wednesday forecast

It looks like Wednesday is a dry day but temps will struggle in the 30s to low 40s early, and then settling in the mid to upper 50s and that's it. Skies will stay mostly cloudy and it will stay breezy yet again WSW 10-20 mph but we should stay dry all day.

Thursday forecast

We may see a few light morning showers Thursday, but most of the day should be dry, although model data is split on the timing of rain chances toward the end of this work and school week.

Friday forecast

Again, we'll keep it dry for now. That means Friday will bring afternoon and evening rain chances with temps in the lower 50s setting us up for a cool weekend ahead. It looks like a bright and dry weekend but temps will struggle a bit in the lower 30s for lows, and highs mainly in the mid 50s.
