Snow, sleet, freezing rain hits Michigan, Metro Detroit

Wintry weather hits SE Michigan, Metro Detroit Tuesday evening

DETROIT – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Genesee, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties from now until noon on Wednesday.

A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect for Lapeer, Sanilac and St. Clair Counties from 6pm, Tuesday, to 12 noon, Wednesday.

Tuesday morning remains the calm before the storm.  Skies will become cloudy and temps will rise just above freezing.  This sets the stage for a wintry mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain from a winter storm that bore down on the nation's midsection. 

Here's the storm's timeline:

Between now and 12 noon, today - Chilly rain inches across the Michigan-Ohio border into Lenawee and Monroe Counties.

12 noon to 3pm, today - Chilly rain moves across the rest of Southeast Michigan, including Detroit.
