Metro Detroit gets some light snow

Wintry mix hits Metro Detroit, leaving light snow dusting in some areas

DETROIT – Light evening snow should quickly end, followed by clearing skies later tonight.

Watch out for a few icy patches when you head out Tuesday morning. While a good deal of pavement moisture should evaporate before the real cold air settles in, any leftover puddles could freeze, as temperatures tonight drop into the low to mid 20s.

The daylight hours on Tuesday feature some good news, and some bad news. The good news is that we should have some sunshine. The bad news is that it won't help.

Air temperatures will only reach the 30s by afternoon, but a biting northwest wind at 10 to 20 mph will make it feel like it's in the teens. Make sure your kids are bundled up for their time at the bus stop and at recess, and don't forget to make sure that your outdoor pets have a warm place to spend some time.

We'll hang on to mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies through the end of the week, with gradual warming back to near 50 degrees by Saturday, although most of the week will be breezy.
