Count on messy, slow afternoon commute

Fresh snow coming through Metro Detroit this afternoon. It's another clipper system with limited moisture and a cold and fluffy result. The good news is that it's only going to throw down an inch or two this afternoon and evening. The bad news is that will be a messy and slow afternoon and evening drive. Double your commute times and check with Chuck on Local 4 News starting at 4pm. Highs today will only hit low to mid teens and winds SW 5-12 mph.

Cold air continues all week long. We will have a few lake effect snow showers tomorrow in the usually spots near the bigger bodies of water. Temperatures will be very similar tomorrow. Lows Thursday just above zero and highs in the mid to upper teens with scattered, light snow showers. Friday will be brutal! Winds will be cranking 20-30 mph making wind chills around -20 to -35 degrees as we end the work and school week.

The warmest day ahead is Saturday in the 20s, but it will come with shovel able snow. Snow may begin late Friday but it's more of a Saturday morning event. Very early, the computer models are hinting at maybe 2-3" of fresh snow Saturday.
