More showers, potential storms approaching Metro Detroit Tuesday

Mild first half of Tuesday for southeastern Michigan

DETROIT – Rain is pouring in on the west side of lower Michigan Tuesday morning and will take some time to move over Metro Detroit. That rain will spread some cloud cover over us, but the first half of the day will still be mild with highs near 80 degrees .

Rain showers should start to develop or move into the Metro Detroit area after 2 or 3 p.m.

The warm and unstable conditions could bring a few stronger storms.

The main threat today will be flooding. Some areas saw 3 inches or more of rain yesterday and some of our western and northwestern suburbs will experience steady rain through the late afternoon and evening.

Keep the umbrella handy for a good portion of the week ahead.

Cooler air with rain showers will take over on Wednesday.

It looks like the rain will arrive in the early morning and then return late into the evening.

Some heavy rain is possible again Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Keep an eye on basements and yards for flooding issues.

Highs will drop from the 60s Wednesday and down into the 50s Thursday which will feel noticeably cooler.
