Sun shines bright as temps rise Sunday

Highs near 80

DETROIT – The Memorial Day Weekend keeps chugging along with warmer weather day by day.

Sunday afternoon will be bright and warmer. Families will need their sunglasses and sun block for a trip to any carnivals or the 1pm ET Tigers' game against the Rangers at Comerica Park. Electronic music lovers will need the same and drink plenty of water at 2014 Movement music festival at Hart Plaza.

Sunday evening will be clear and cool with temperatures in the 60s. Anyone hosting any barbeques must be careful with fire and remember to extinguish it completely before leaving the grill.

Sunday night will be fair and cool with lows in the upper 50s.

Memorial Day, Monday, will be warmer with partly sunny skies. Morning temps will be in the 50s and 60s. Conditions will be dry for parades and commemorations through the mid-day hour. The afternoon will be much warmer with highs between 80 and 85 degrees. Families going to the pool or planning picnics will need to listen for thunder because showers and thunderstorms are possible after 3pm.

Tuesday will have lingering showers with daytime temps near 80. Sunshine returns Wednesday and beyond as Detroiters head back to work and school Highs will be in the 70s. Lows will be in the 40s and 50s.
