Dropping temps Saturday evening in Metro Detroit

Temps fall into 50s, then 40s

DETROIT – The weekend starts damp but only for one morning. The mid-autumn-like chill remains all weekend for Detroit and Southeast Michigan.

Sweatshirts, hats, jackets and knit gloves emblazoned with the Old English D will be needed for baseball fans to stay warm for Detroit Tigers' fans for the game against Cleveland Saturday evening at Comerica Park. Temperatures will be in the 50s by the 7:08pm ET first pitch and in the 40s by the end of the game (and Tigers' victory).

Saturday night will be partly cloudy and colder. Temperatures will fall to the 40s in downtown Detroit but in the 30s in many northern and western suburbs. The record low Sunday morning is 37 degrees set back in 1975.

Sunday will get a bit milder after a cold start. Skies will be mostly sunny, and afternoon temps will be near 65 degrees. A few showers return Monday with highs in the middle 60s. More sunshine returns the middle of next week with highs in the middle then upper 60s.
