DETROIT – Happy Mothers' Day, everyone! Detroit's special day will be warm with scattered showers and storms. Monday will be stormier before a cool-down and sunnier skies mid-week.

Please join me on Twitter (@AndrewLocal4) for regular weather updates.

Similar to Saturday, there will be a mid-day break from the rain in Detroit and Southeast Michigan as temperatures reach 70 degrees. Lunch outdoors with mom has a good chance of being dry. Then after 2pm ET, scattered showers and thunderstorms redevelop and migrate across the region. Highs will be near 75°F.

Sunday evening will have scattered storms for people taking their moms out to dinner or to the 8pm ET Tigers game against the Royals at Comerica Park. Drivers must use caution on wet roads. Baseball fans will need their ponchos in case showers cruise over Comerica Park.

Monday will likely have more showers and thunderstorms ahead of a cold front. The day will be warmer with highs near 80°F by mid to late afternoon. Some storms will have heavy downpours, frequent lightning and gusty winds.

Behind Monday's cold front are sunnier skies and much cooler air. A cool-down will be in place for the Motor City area Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will be in the low 60s Tuesday. Afterward, morning lows will be in the 40s for the next two days. Wednesday will be mostly sunny with afternoon temps near 60°F. Thursday's highs will be near 65°F. Friday and next weekend will be warmer.
