Local 4Casters: Dryer, cooler weather ahead

DETROIT – Severe weather has affected very few of us on Wednesday afternoon, and now it looks like that threat has ended.

As we move into the overnight, we'll remain warm and humid before a widespread area of rain arrives after midnight. Expect rain between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday. There may be areas that pick up more than an inch of rain overnight. This will come on the tail end of a cold front that will bring a very noticeable temperature change to the remainder of the week.

Wednesday lows will end up around 65 degrees as the rain comes down around sunrise.

Thursday will be mainly dry with only the possibility of a light sprinkle in the afternoon. Temperatures will be much cooler with highs only in the mid 70s, plus the humidity will mercifully drop. We'll also notice a very breezy day with 10-20 mph winds out of the southwest.

Friday into the weekend will be comfortable. Temperatures will inch up from the upper 70s on Friday to the low 80s by Sunday afternoon. But humidity levels will stay low throughout the entire 10-day forecast.

The one drawback in the forecast is the lack of rain. After Wednesday night, we have only one chance of rain, which is Sunday night into very early Monday. Beyond that, things could get a little crispy by the middle of next week.
