Wet weather for Friday and the weekend

DETROIT – A wave of rain and thunder early this morning will rumble through Metro Detroit as the first of a few chances for rain today.

Those morning storms may slow your commute with a few areas of soaking rain possible.

We will see a mostly cloudy midday break with temps trying to reach up to 80 degrees again.

We will receive warming winds SSW 5-15 mph ahead of a cool front on its way later today.

Scattered rain and thundershowers are likely on and off later this afternoon and evening and we may see a few stronger storms develop with gusty winds and dangerous lightning through the late afternoon and evening.

Another wave of soaking rain is expected early Saturday although computer model data doesn't all agree that Detroit will be the target.

We still need to be prepared a wet and stormy first half of Saturday and if we are not the target of the big swath of rain, we may clear out in the late morning.

If that wave takes aim here, it could be mid to late afternoon before we start drying out tomorrow as temps will range from the mid 60s to mid 70s.

Skies clear late Saturday and temps drop into the 50s and 60s Sunday.

We should see Sunday sun trying to warm us again as we see a lot of 70s heading into next week.
