Metro Detroit weather forecast: Mix of sun, clouds on Thursday
Snow possible on Friday
DETROIT – There is rain today and snow is possible by Friday.
Tonight, scattered light showers will dry out in the evening. We'll see a late high temperature around 50 degrees. Temperatures eventually fall into the mid-and-upper 30s. Clouds will start thinning after midnight.
Thursday will be one of our brightest days going forward. But that will still be a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures tomorrow will be noticeably cooler, with a high barely getting to 40.
Friday is our one shot at snow in the forecast (maybe for the rest of the month?). As colder air travels over the warmer (and still ice-free) waters of Lake Michigan, we'll see bands of snow set up in some locations. Too early to tell where or how intense these bands will be. But I would be surprised to see more than 1 inch of accumulation in even the heaviest, most persistent bands. Highs will barely get above freezing, but there will be sunshine in spots, too.
The weekend is looking dry and cold. And Christmas week is looking unseasonably warm -- again! Check out the numbers in the 10 Day Forecast.
