DETROIT – Higher temperatures arrive this weekend. Precipitation is possible, but it will come in the form of rain and not snow.

Saturday night will be partly to mostly cloudy and chilly with lows in the low and middle 30s.

Skies will be mostly cloudy with occasional shafts of sunlight on Sunday. Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s. Ahead of the next storm system, there will be a chance of scattered rain showers much of the day and into the night. Temps remain above freezing after nightfall.

Monday will be cooler and mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the low 40s.

Happy Groundhog Day, Tuesday! America's next big winter storm will develop across The Plains and western Midwest. It will mean snow for those areas, including Iowa and The U.P. The Motor City area will be on the warm side of the storm and it will rain. It will be wet and sloppy virtually all day.

The cold front moves through Wednesday. Temperatures will drop through the 30s, and scattered snow showers will fall. It will be slippery. The rest of the week will be colder. Highs will be in the 20s and lows will be in the teens Thursday and Friday.
