Happy St. Patrick's Day! Thursday afternoon will be windy with scattered showers. Detroiters must be on guard again for falling trees, branches and power lines. Be prepared for power outages, again, too. Beleaguered work crew will have their hands full with westerly winds blowing 15 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph or more in some neighborhoods. Residents without power must remain patient under these blustery conditions.

Colder air blows in Thursday night and this weekend. Thursday evening will become chilly with temps in the middle then low 40s before midnight. Scattered rain showers will dissipate and move away from the region.

Thursday night will be mostly to partly cloudy and colder with lows near freezing.

Friday will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy and chilly. Highs will be in the low and middle 40s.

Spring begins this weekend at 12:30 a.m. ET, Sunday, March 20.

Saturday and Sunday will be sunnier. Winter coats will be needed along with sunglasses, though. Nighttime and early morning lows will be in the middle and upper 20s. Daytime temps on Saturday afternoon will barely be above 40°F. Sunday afternoon will make it to 45°F. This is the perfect weekend to think summer inside, where it's warm and toasty at the Backyard Pool & Spay show in Novi.

Monday's and Tuesday's temps will be slightly higher. Afternoon reading will reach the upper 40s with partly sunny skies. Showers are possible Wednesday.
