Detroit goes on a roller-coaster weather ride

Winter Storm Watch for Sanilac County

DETROIT – Monday evening will become chillier and remain dry. Then wild weather changes, Michigan is known for, happens Tuesday through Thursday.

A WINTER STORM WATCH will be in effect for Sanilac County from 12 p.m., Wednesday, to 8 p.m., Thursday.

Monday evening will have fair skies with chilly conditions. Temps fall to the low 40s and upper 30s. Families going out to dinner and basketball fans going to the Pistons-Bucks game at the Palace Of Auburn Hills will need their coats, hats, scarves and gloves to stay warm.

Monday night will be colder with lows in the low 30s under partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday will be a lot more spring-like. The wind switches and blows quickly from the southwest where it's warmer. With partly sunny skies, it will be breezy and warm with highs in the upper 50s to near 60°F.

By Tuesday night, a frontal system arrives from the north bringing clouds, colder air and slippery weather. Most of Southeast Michigan will have a chilly rain develop after sunset, Tuesday, into Wednesday and Thursday.

The weather along the I-69 corridor and northward and in Lansing and Central Michigan will be drastically different. Snow eventually develops Wednesday and Thursday in Sanilac County, The Thumb and in the middle of the state. Road will be much more treacherous in these areas with several inches of snow possible over the 36 to 48 hour period; 6 inches or more.

The rest of Southeast Michigan, including Detroit, will have chilly rain showers Tuesday night and Wednesday. It becomes colder and remains soggy as the frontal system sags southward. Temps will be in the upper 40s Wednesday and will hover in the middle and upper 30s all day, Thursday. Some rain showers will end as snow Thursday making streets more slick. Thursday afternoon will be chilly and mostly cloudy after morning snowflakes.

Friday will be sunnier but chilly. Bundle up for Good Friday services. Highs will be in the low 40s.

Easter weekend will have sunshine Saturday and a chance of showers Easter Sunday. Highs will be in the low 50s.
