Look for bright, sunny skies with light wind

DETROIT – Look for bright, sunny skies with light wind today.

Highs in the upper 40s (9° Celsius for our Canadian friends).  Those of you in the Thumb, however, may only see temps reach the low to mid 40s (6° Celsius).

Today’s sunrise is at 7:20 AM, and Today’s sunset is at 7:56 PM.

Mostly clear tonight, with lows in the low to mid 30s (1° Celsius).  There will be no weather problems if you’re heading to the big Pistons game against the Oklahoma City Thunder this evening at the Palace.  Go Pistons!  (although I have to give a little…just a little…love to a team with the name Thunder!).

Partly cloudy, breezy and warmer on Wednesday, with highs in the low 60s (16° Celsius).  This will be our pick day of the week, weather-wise.

Even warmer air will surge into the area Wednesday night, with shower chances ramping up, as well.  Lows only dipping into the mid 50s (12° Celsius).

Shower and thunderstorm chances continue Thursday ahead of an approaching cold front, with highs in the mid 60s (18° Celsius).  I do not expect any severe storms, although it will be a windy day.

That cold front knocks highs back into the upper 40s (9° Celsius) on Friday, with a few scattered light showers still possible (but not guaranteed).

A much stronger cold front slams through on Saturday.  It’ll bring a chance of rain and snow showers, with highs in the mid 40s (8° Celsius), and it’s going to become quite windy…you’ll definitely notice the wind.  My computer models still don’t agree on the front’s exact timing yet, but temperatures will fall sharply behind it.

Then get ready for a pretty cold Sunday (by April standards), with partly cloudy skies more than offset by highs only near 40° (5° Celsius).

Fortunately, it appears that the sharp cold snap won’t last long…the extended range computer models still suggest that we’ll warm back up to near or above average April temps by the middle of next week.
