DETROIT – It's April Fools' Day, but no joke; winter-like weather returns starting today. Temps dive below average, and snowflakes will fall before the weekend is done.

Friday morning will be cloudy and chilly. Rain leaves the region before dawn and gets replaced with temps in the upper 30s and low 40s. People will need their jackets or coats to remain warm at the bus stop.
Friday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and remain chilly. Highs will be in the upper 40s; nearly 5 degrees below average and a far cry from the middle 60s from Thursday.
Friday night becomes cold with lows in the upper 20s and low 30s. A disturbance will bring clouds and a chance of precipitation after midnight.
Saturday will have a chance of snow that will have a chance of accumulating when surfaces get cold enough. Roads and sidewalks will be wet then slushy and slick during the day. Some areas may see and inch of snow on grassy area. Highs will be near 40°F.
Sunday will be sunnier but colder. Morning lows will be in the mid 20s. Winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves will be needed to stay warm while going to and from church. Highs will be in the upper 30s.
Monday will have a chance of a light rain-snow mix with highs in the low 40s after temps begin in the 20s, again.
Afternoon readings rise back to the low and middle 40s Tuesday and Wednesday.
