Showers, storms expected today in metro Detroit

DETROIT – Grab the umbrella! Light rain showers are pulling in early this morning as temps are mainly in the low 50s.

We don’t expect a big dip in temps with the rain because a warm front will be spreading mild air and rain through the morning.

The rain picks up in intensity after 7 or 8 a.m. Rain and thundershowers likely through mid morning which may last through lunch.

Showers and storms become more scattered and less widespread through the afternoon.

Still, pockets of rain will be hanging around all day. As we get some breaks in the action this afternoon, temps will head into the mid and upper 60s with winds SSE 5-15mph.

We will keep an eye on radar as a few of these storms will produce lightning and some gusty winds.

Friday may start off with a few showers, but it will be a nicer afternoon staying mostly cloudy and highs around 57 to 63 degrees. Expect some sun returning later in the afternoon which sets the stage for a nice weekend.

Saturday looks gorgeous although we start on the clear and cool side with upper 30s in the morning. Sunshine all day will bring temps into the mid and upper 50s.

Sunday is even nicer with a surge of warmer air and highs in the mid 60s taking aim at 70 degrees to end the weekend.

Monday brings more rain and thunder chances.
