Metro Detroit skies finally get rain, holiday weekend is nothing but sunshine

DETROIT – Scattered light rain leading to heavier showers and isolated thunder this morning as a cold front moves across Metro Detroit to start your Friday.

This system has produced a small handful of severe weather reports in its path but it’s weakening and should just be garden variety scattered showers through 10am.

We count any rain as a blessing and hope for a good 60-90 minute soaking turning into a pretty nice day with skies turning partly cloudy and highs in the upper 70s. Winds will be breezy along and behind this front SW to NW 5-15 mph.

The Holiday Weekend brings nothing but sunshine Saturday and Sunday as highs settle back into the low 80s. Conditions will be calm too making for great boating weather. It will be a touch cooler north but no rain expected if you’re heading up to the cabin or lake house.

New model data is keeping rain south of the state line on Independence Day, Monday July 4th. Our neighbors in Indiana and Ohio will get the showers and storms the way it stands now, and we’ll keep you posted on any changes.
