Metro Detroit weather forecast: Heat wave on track

Temperatures were warm but not humid today.   And we won’t have to worry about humidity tonight either.

Skies will become mostly clear.  Winds will be calm.  And our overnight lows will drop to the low 60s.

Tomorrow, highs will be slightly warmer in many locations… they’ll be in the mid 80s areawide.  Still, no problem with humidity though.  There’s a slight chance at a thunderstorm around sunset, but most of us will remain completely dry.  Wednesday night, humidity becomes noticeable.

But by Thursday it’s going to full-on sweaty!  Temperatures hit the low 90s with heat index readings making it feel like the mid 90s.

We won’t notice much change through the weekend, except that heat index readings will be close to 100 degrees in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday.  Thunderstorm chances won’t be zero, but there also won’t be any large scale features that will trigger them.  Instead we’ll have to closely monitor some small scale boundaries and disturbances.  Sunday looks like our best chance of storms as a cold front moves through late.

That front will drop humidity for early next week, but we won’t get a HUGE cooldown, just back to average highs in the mid 80s.  Check the 10 Day Forecast for all the numbers.
