Metro Detroit weather forecast: Rain chances throughout the day

Heavy rain expected Tuesday

It’s a little cooler out there this morning and some patchy fog is present through the morning hours.

We are waking to temps in the 60s and will likely only make it to near 80 degrees this afternoon. Rain south is slowly moving north and spreading cloud cover into Metro Detroit. Our South Zone, south of I-94 will see scattered showers this morning and afternoon while most of the rest of us north won’t see much rain until the afternoon or even later into the evening. Keep the umbrella handy today just in case more moisture sneaks in.

Heavier rain will spread across SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario late tonight and overnight. We need to be prepared for as much as 1-3” of rain tonight through midday Tuesday. With rain and scattered thunder, highs only in the upper 70s to maybe low 80s tomorrow. We may see some localized flooding, especially in flood prone areas… be careful!

Most of Wednesday and Thursday look dry, but another rain maker will move in late Wednesday and early Thursday bringing another rain chance during that timeframe. Make sure you download the Local4Casters app with radar and storm updates, so you’re prepared all summer long.
