Metro Detroit weather forecast: Brief break from rain
Scattered thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon
DETROIT – The rain will give us a break, but only until Wednesday afternoon.
Skies have dried out temporarily, but with all the moisture near the surface, we’ll be watching for areas of fog developing late Tuesday night. That could impact our morning commute on Wednesday.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler in the low-to-mid 60s. Humidity might be slightly lower Tuesday night, but any improvement will get erased by lunchtime Wednesday.
Sunshine returns Wednesday, at least mixed with clouds. High temperatures come back to above normal numbers, in the mid 80s. Heat index readings will be in the upper 80s. Scattered thunderstorms will be around in the afternoon, but they won’t produce a lot of rain. Severe weather is not expected.
We’re mainly dry into the weekend. Our atmosphere won’t be completely stable, so an isolated shower or storm is tough to rule out. However, the vast majority of us will be partly cloudy, very warm and humid. Highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80s with heat index readings around 90 degrees in the afternoons.
Check out the cooler temperatures (and lower humidity) next week in the 10-day forecast.
