Humid Friday with rain showers possible

Highs in the mid to upper 80s

DETROIT – A warm and muggy Friday ahead with morning temps in the low 70s and high clouds will keep us from cooling off. Afternoon highs will hit the mid to maybe upper 80s depending on cloud cover and it will feel very humid. The heat index will be in the low 90s at least and we will see shower chances throughout the day but mainly late afternoon and evening. We cannot rule out a stray shower before that as radar is active to our west this morning as skies stay only partly sunny.

Big weekend changes come in Saturday with showers and storms by the late afternoon or evening. An approaching cold front will be the spark as temps and humidity will be high again in the mid 80s feeling like 90s. There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather late Saturday as a line of storms will blow through sometime after 3 or 4 p.m. Heavier rain late Saturday into early Sunday.

It will be cooler Sunday after the cold front passes and afternoon highs will only hit the mid 70s. Rain should be done mid morning with nothing more than an isolated shower midday.  It will be noticeably cooler start to next week in the 70s for several days.
