Metro Detroit weather forecast: Mild start in the 70s

It’s the first full day of Fall and it feels a bit more seasonal today. A cool front is sweeping through from north to south early this morning and it will bring a bit more cloud cover in its wake. It may also produce a few very light showers this morning. You can expect mostly cloudy skies through most of the day with limited times of sunshine and highs in the mid to maybe upper 70s. Wind from the NNE 5-10 mph means lake enhanced breezes and lake enhanced clouds thicker in our North and Metro Zones.

Saturday will start with clouds and cool temps in the 50s, but some sun will begin to bust out through the afternoon. Cooler air settles in for the weekend, so highs in the upper 60s to low 70s for a while.

Sunday will be brighter and a touch warmer with highs staying mainly in the low 70s. A few good chances for rain arrive next week and could start with soaking showers Monday. Rain chances are more scattered into Tuesday and Wednesday.  Make sure you download the Local4Casters app with radar and storm updates, so you’re prepared all week long.
