Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures reach 70s Tuesday

Chance of rain ahead this week

DETROIT – As far as Halloween forecasts go, this may be one of our better ones -- not too cold, not too warm. I'm expecting some of the cloud cover to fade away as we head closer to sunset. Temperatures will be in the low 50s to start trick-or-treating, then drop to the mid-40s for overnight lows.

We've got a nice warm-up in store for Tuesday, with highs heading to the mid-70s. That will still fall several degrees short of our 81-degree record set back in 1950. We'll still have a lot of cloud cover, but a few peeks of sun are possible.

The middle of the week looks wet. Rain should start arriving by lunchtime on Wednesday, at least in our West Zone. Then expect a good soaker Wednesday night with rain wrapping up by early Thursday morning. Wednesday’s high should still hit 70 even with clouds and rain around.

Beyond that, temperatures start moving close to average for the balance of the forecast, but at least we have plenty of sunshine to go with it. Check out the November (yes, already!) numbers in our 10-day forecast.
