Metro Detroit weather forecast: Warmer air moving in

A Dense Fog Advisory until 10am for all of Metro Detroit on your Thursday morning with temps mainly in the mid to upper 30s and low 40s as you head out. Be careful as visibility will be less than a quarter mile for a while to start your day. Gradual clearing this morning as the warmer breezes pick up and a warm front passes through midday. With a mostly sunny afternoon, highs will climb into the low 60s and becoming a bit breezy SSE 5-15 mph gusting a bit stronger at times.

We will likely tie or break a record high Friday in Detroit as highs climb to near 70 degrees. It will be a mostly sunny start and breezy at times SSW 7-17 mph gusting over 20 mph at times. Clouds fill in as we head through the evening ahead of a cold front. That front will bring mainly rain overnight into early Saturday, but a few snow showers could mix in in spots.

A colder Saturday starts with early morning rain and/or rain and snow mixed. We should get a period of dry air and some clearing but temps will tumble through the day. A second shot of cold air through the afternoon and evening will drop temps into the 30s and bring wind chills down into the 20s. Those winds will be blustery WSW 15-30 mph. A few lake effect snow showers could lay down a coating, especially on grassy surfaces.

A breezy to windy day Sunday and still cold with temps in the 30s all day feeling like the 20s. We may see a few flakes flying from lake enhanced clouds but most of the moisture will have moved east.  To stay ahead of the Fall swings and changes, make sure you have the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
