3-5 inches of fresh snow expected Friday night in SE Michigan

DETROIT – Another 3-5 inches of fresh snow can be expected by Saturday morning in Metro Detroit, the Local 4Casters are reporting.

Meteorologist Brandon Roux said snow will begin Friday afternoon and get more intense as the night unfolds. There is a possibility that even more snow will fall throughout the day Saturday.

Here is Brandon's forecast for Friday and the weekend:

The snow should begin in the late afternoon with light snow and a bit more intense Friday night. We should wake up Saturday morning to a range of 3-5 inches of fresh snow.

Then, a surge of warmer air Saturday mid morning could bring some rain, freezing rain, and sleet into the mix. Still many scenarios that could play out but we are warning anyone traveling Saturday to proceed with extreme caution. Freezing rain and sleet could add ice accumulation and cut into snow totals.

But, if this is all snow Saturday, we could see the potential for 5-10 inches Saturday ... again, only if it’s all snow. The wintry mix will at least change back to light snow late Saturday, ending early Sunday. We will keep our eye on this storm as we head through the week.

Most of us in Metro Detroit had a decent amount of snow to dig out of on Monday, when pretty much all of the area's school districts were closed. Some regions of SE Michigan, such as Ann Arbor, received 10 inches of snow.
