3-6 inches of fresh snow expected in SE Michigan by Saturday morning

DETROIT – Another 3-6 inches of snow is expected by Saturday morning in southeast Michigan.

Meteorologist Brandon Roux said this week's storm could include some rain or freezing rain.

Here is his forecast for Friday night and Saturday morning:

Periods of heavy snow overnight means we wake up with of 3-6 inches of fresh snow. The Winter Weather Advisory starts at 7 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday for the heavy snow overnight, rain and/or freezing rain through mid morning Saturday, and dangerous travel conditions throughout.

Temps keep rising Saturday and that will bring a mid morning mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleet which should change to plain rain for most of the area through the late morning. This will make travel and even shoveling very tough ... be careful. We will likely get a break in the action during parts of the afternoon with highs in the mid to maybe upper 30s. Then, a bit more snow coming back into the late afternoon and evening that could bring another inch or slightly more.

Snow showers end early Sunday with cold air quickly returning.

You'll notice that's an increase of an inch since yesterday's forecast.

Most of us in Metro Detroit had a decent amount of snow to dig out of on Monday, when pretty much all of the area's school districts were closed. Some regions of SE Michigan, such as Ann Arbor, received 10 inches of snow.
