Metro Detroit forecast: Wet, mild and foggy start

Temps rising to mid-40s

DETROIT – A wet and foggy start to your Tuesday, but it’s not icy as temps are in the upper 30s to start the day.

Expect some breaks from the rain showers today which will allow temps to actually warm into the low and mid 40s, but keep the umbrella handy as more showers will develop on and off through the afternoon as skies remain cloudy and the winds will be light NNE 5-10 mph. Rain chances will linger until a cold front passes through this evening.

A much different weather story tomorrow as cold air fills in and the winds pick up which means 20s will feel like single digits at times tomorrow. We are back into the full winter garb Wednesday.  Lake effect snow showers could be heavy at times as scattered snow squalls move in from Lake Michigan. For most of us it will be lighter snow showers with a dusting and blowing snow will be an issues as we drive around Metro Detroit. The conditions will worsen as you head west toward Lake Michigan. Those winds tomorrow will blow W 15-25 mph gusting over 30 mph at times. Brrrrr!

More cold air and scattered, light snow showers Thursday. Morning lows in the teens and highs only in the low 20s with winds WSW 10-20 mph will make it feel like single digits all day. A couple of days in a row of this make it a dangerous cold so layer up and avoid long stints outside if you can. Cold air sticks around through the weekend but with little to no precipitation expected after Thursday.
