Metro Detroit weather: Cold sticks around this week

Overnight lows near 10 degrees

DETROIT – Mother Nature flipped a switch on residents in Metro Detroit. It feels like it's 40 degrees colder than Tuesday afternoon.

Winds will relax somewhat Wednesday night, but it will still be breezy. Overnight lows near 10 degrees will feel more like below zero at times.

Lake-effect snow showers will fade Wednesday night, but return on Thursday. Temperatures will barely get to 20 degrees in the afternoon, which will keep wind chills in single digits for the day.

We'll lose the snow but not the cold for the remainder of the week. Highs Friday through the weekend will be around 20 degrees. Morning lows will be near 10 degrees, while wind chills will barely be in positive territory.

Our next chance of measurable precipitation will be on Tuesday, and it could be a little bit of everything.

Temperatures will be warmer, so the system could bring snow, then a mix, then rain. It depends on the timing.

Thursday’s high will reach the upper 30s. We’ll get to 40 degrees early on Wednesday, then it’s back below average.
