Metro Detroit weather: Winter chill continues into weekend

Wind chills fall close to zero

DETROIT – Wind chills didn't make it higher than 10 degrees Thursday in parts of Metro Detroit. Expect the winter chill to continue through the start of the weekend.

Partly cloudy skies will become mostly cloudy overnight Thursday. Temperatures will drop to the low teens in the Metro Zone, with many locations falling into single digits. Wind chills will make it feel closer to zero.

Sunshine will return Friday, with more in the afternoon than the morning. Highs will hit the mid-20s, and winds will blow at 10-20 mph, making it feel like 10 above.

The weekend will start out chilly, but get above normal by the finish.

Saturday will be partly cloudy, starting around 10 degrees and finishing in the mid- to upper 20s.

Sunday will begin in the low and mid-20s, but temperatures will rise into the mid-30s.

A quick-moving system will move primarily across the northern part of the state Saturday night and Sunday morning. It might brush the North and West zones with some snow showers, but many of us will remain dry.

Tuesday will bring our next big weather-maker. The timing and position of the system is still up in the air, but it looks like we’ll see rain and possibly some ice and snow. Stay tuned.
