Metro Detroit weather: More snow showers, colder temps ahead

Chance of snow this weekend

DETROIT – This isn't how March is supposed to work.

We've got another cold night ahead of us. Overnight lows will drop to the low and mid-teens, but winds will be lighter, so it won't feel quite as chilly as Tuesday night. Skies will remain mostly clear.

Thursday will feature plenty of sunshine and a noticeably warmer afternoon. Highs will rise into the upper 30s.

Snowflakes will return on St. Patrick's Day on Friday, but those will transition to rain in the afternoon. Moisture amounts will be light, so even if we see a dusting in the morning, it won’t last long.

Saturday will bring a few more snow showers, but again, there won’t be much moisture involved.

Spring starts at 6:29 a.m. Monday. That will, coincidentally, be our warmest day of the forecast. Highs will get to average, in the mid-40s, with plenty of clouds and a chance of showers.

Only cooler temperatures remain beyond that in the 10-day forecast.
