Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures continue to fall

Temperatures rise into 40s Thursday

DETROIT – Did you think Tuesday night was cold? Wednesday night will bring even colder temperatures to Metro Detroit.

Even though the wind will be much calmer Wednesday night, temperatures will be even lower than what residents woke up to Wednesday morning. Expect temperatures to be in the teens area wide. Skies will be mostly clear right through sunrise.

We'll gain some ground on Thursday. With plenty of early sunshine, temperatures will get to the low 40s by afternoon. Clouds will increase late in the day.

That will lead to overnight rain that should be gone around sunrise on Friday, where we make a big leap on the thermometer. Highs will hit the low 60s. With most of the rain exiting during the morning commute, Friday should be our pick day of the week.

We have to discuss the weekend. Most of us will be watching basketball anyway. It will be overcast, wet and cooler both days. Highs will be in the mid-50s, with morning lows in the 40s.

Next week looks pretty active but not much warmer.
