Metro Detroit weather: 3 days of rain coming up

Rainfall picks up after Wednesday

DETROIT – We’ve got a three-day soaker ahead that might cause us some weekend headaches.

Expect dry conditions overnight after a few early evening sprinkles move out. The brisk winds will diminish once the sun sets, but overnight lows will be in the 30s areawide.

Our one completely dry day (until Sunday) will be Wednesday, and it will come with lighter winds and plenty of sunshine. That will boost highs to 60 degrees in parts of the area. The 4ZONE page has the breakdown of all those numbers.

Rain will return after the Thursday morning commute. That will start a three-day stretch of wet weather that will take us through Saturday. Highs will barely touch 50 degrees Thursday and Friday, and will only reach the mid-40s Saturday.

Rainfall amounts could exceed 2 inches, depending on the track of the system. Right now, southeast Michigan is in the bull's eye for the heaviest rain over that 72-hour period.
