Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures drop overnight before warmup

Temperatures fall below freezing Monday night

DETROIT – After a respectable recovery Monday afternoon, we're headed back toward freezing Monday night.

A freeze warning is in effect for all of southeast Michigan until 8 a.m. Tuesday. Cover any sensitive plants or bring in them indoors overnight. Temperatures will drop to near freezing in our Metro Zone with upper 20s in most other spots.

The clear skies and calm winds will translate to a quick warmup on Tuesday. Highs will hit 60 degrees. Sunshine will be around for the first half of the day, with increasing clouds by afternoon.

There’s not a lot of rain in the forecast. In fact, our only chance of getting wet during the work week is on Wednesday night. We might see a shower then, otherwise expect dry conditions until Sunday.

Temperatures will slowly warm up toward the weekend, but 63 is as good as it gets this week. Check out some warmer numbers beyond the weekend in our 10-day forecast.
