Get ready for the warmest day of 2017 (so far) in Metro Detroit

Could we see 90 degrees?

DETROIT – Get ready to sweat! Wednesday will be our warmest day of the year so far.

Tonight, we'll be unseasonably mild under mostly clear skies. Lows will be in the low-to-mid 60s.  South breezes will be noticeable through the night.

Wednesday will be the warmest of the forecast and the warmest of 2017, beating the 83 from April 15th.  Highs will hit the mid-to-upper 80s. Winds will be brisk (15-25 mph) with gusts topping 30, especially in the late afternoon and evening.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple 90s in spots with that windy finish.

We'll hold on to most of the heat on Thursday, and add some thunderstorm possibilities. There's a very small chance first thing in the morning, with a better chance (but still less than likely) in the evening.

Temperatures drop significantly on Friday. In fact, highs will be below normal, in the mid 60s. But that will still be a pleasant finish to the work week with partly cloudy skies.

We start gaining some ground over the weekend. Temperatures move upward, but so do our rain chances. Check out which weekend day will be wetter in our 10 Day Forecast.
