Highs soaring to near 90 degrees in SE Michigan

DETROIT – You know it’s warm when our morning lows are where our afternoon highs should be.

Temps around Metro Detroit this morning are in the 60s to near 70 degrees under clear skies. We will see summer-like conditions once again today with sunshine mixing with some clouds forming with the heat of the day, and highs soaring into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. The Detroit record high for today is 93°. With the heat, the humidity is up a tick and winds will be gusty SSW 10-25 mph gusting over 30 mph by late morning and through the afternoon.

Radar is active to our west once again as our rain and thunder chances increase headed into tomorrow. We may see a few scattered rain and thundershowers overnight into early Thursday morning. The heat is on again and the winds will be cranking too SW 15-30 mph or stronger bringing highs into the mid or upper 80s.

SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario are under a Marginal Risk for severe storms tomorrow as the heat of the day will activate ahead of an approaching cold front. So, eyes to the skies tomorrow afternoon for a scattered storms, some of which could produce dangerous winds and lightning.

It’s cold front Friday as temps drop significantly into the mid 60s with partly cloudy skies.  It will be comfortable, but a noticeable change from most of the week as winds shift N 7-12 mph. Weekend forecast data now calls for a dry and warming Saturday with sunshine to start and high clouds filling in late as highs hover around 70 degrees.
