Heat and humidity heading back to Metro Detroit

Partly cloudy skies Tuesday afternoon

DETROIT – Tuesday's cloud cover came in significantly later than I expected, with most of us starting our day with bright blue skies. But colder air streaming into the state brought clouds to the eastern half of our area, with partly cloudy skies overall west of there.

As you can see on the temperature map above, those who kept sunshine into the afternoon enjoyed pleasant temperatures near 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius) this afternoon, while areas that remained cloudy actually saw temperatures fall once the clouds moved in, and will finish the afternoon in the low to mid 60s (16-17 degrees Celsius), with parts of the Thumb even cooler than that.

A few brief sprinkles and very light showers popped up mid-afternoon, but those shouldn’t pose any problems for those of you heading to Comerica Park for tonight’s Tigers game against the Angels. Sunset this evening is at 9:07 p.m.

Skies overnight will become partly cloudy on average, with lows in the low to mid 50s (11-12 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy to mostly sunny on Wednesday, although we may become partly cloudy again for a two-to-three hour period in the afternoon.  Highs in the low 70s (22 degrees Celsius).  Wednesday’s sunrise is at 5:57 a.m., and Wednesday’s sunset is at 9:08 p.m.

Mostly clear Wednesday night, with lows in the mid 50s (12 degrees Celsius).

Mostly sunny on Thursday, with highs in the mid 70s (24 degrees Celsius).

Mostly clear Thursday night, with lows in the upper 50s (15 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy with a chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday, and highs in the upper 70s (26 degrees Celsius).

Here comes the warm-up

Partly cloudy and warmer on Saturday, with highs in the mid 80s (29 degrees Celsius).

Mostly clear Saturday night, as our nights start becoming more uncomfortable as dewpoint temperatures start going up. Lows in the upper 60s (20 degrees Celsius).

Mostly sunny, hot and humid Sunday through at least Tuesday, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s (32-33 degrees Celsius).
