Warm with chance of rain as summer approaches

Summer begins early Wednesday morning

DETROIT – We are hours away from summer, but it will take a bit longer to get back above normal temperatures.

Some areas, especially in our North and West zones, will see a few raindrops Tuesday night, but there will be a lot fewer than Monday. Most rain should be gone before the sun sets.

Summer officially begins at 12:24 a.m. Overnight lows will be slightly below normal in the mid- to upper 50s with light winds.

Wednesday looks fantastic. Mostly sunny skies will last pretty much the entire day with just a few extra afternoon clouds. Everyone will stay dry, too. Highs will stay shy of average, in the mid- to upper 70s.

Thursday and Friday will bring warmer temperatures, higher humidity and renewed chances of thunderstorms. Highs both days will reach the mid-80s. Thursday night will be noticeably muggy. That will keep overnight lows near 70.

Our weekend is looking mainly dry. Expect a shot at a thunderstorm both days. Temperatures will be cooler behind a front, with highs in the mid-70s.
