Metro Detroit weather: Major changes coming up for weekend forecast

Humidity, temperatures drop through weekend

DETROIT – After sweating through an incredibly muggy week, things are about to change as we head into the weekend.

Expect mainly cloudy skies Thursday night. We still could see a shower or thunderstorm in the evening before drying out for good overnight. Humidity will decrease late, so if you're sleeping with the windows open, you probably won't notice much relief until you wake up. Lows will drop to the mid- and upper 60s by daybreak.

Humidity will continue to drop on Friday, from tropical to just noticeable levels. Don't expect a ton of sunshine, however. It will be limited through most of the day, with some brighter skies toward the later hours of the day. Highs will stop in the mid- to upper 70s. Combined with the lower humidity, it will feel very different from days past.

The weekend will start dry, but it won't finish that way. Saturday will be a fantastic July day with mostly sunny skies, fairly low humidity and highs in the low 80s.

On Sunday, temperatures will be in the same spot, but humidity will bump up a bit, along with storm chances in the afternoon and evening.

Next week will start out with a dry, bright stretch Monday through Wednesday. Humidity will be low for most of those three days. Temperatures up to 90 degrees aren't out of the question by Wednesday. Learn more in our 10-day forecast.
