Metro Detroit forecast: Stretch of beautiful weather continues

Next chance of rain arrives Friday

DETROIT – We’re digging the dog days of summer. Unofficially, those will end Friday, but we’re just getting started with a string of beautiful weather.

Skies will become mostly clear Wednesday night. Temperatures will be close to normal for early August, in the low to mid-60s for most of us. Parts of our West and North Zones will still hit the 50s by Thursday morning.

Thursday will be nearly identical to Wednesday, with a bright start, afternoon clouds, a light breeze and highs in the low to mid-80s.

Our next and only chance of rain will arrive Friday. We might see some showers even before the sun comes up, but the better chance will be in the afternoon with the passage of a cold front. Thunderstorms will be around with the rain. No severe weather is expected, though. Highs will reach the low 80s before the afternoon storms pop.

The weekend looks fantastic. Expect more sun than clouds and noticeable humidity (but not muggy). Highs will be close to 80 degrees with lows near 60 degrees.

See how long the dry stretch lasts in our 10-day forecast.
