Few scattered showers, then drier

DETROIT – A few showers Tuesday evening as it remains warm and muggy in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. A cold front clears things out tonight and brings lower temps.

Baseball fans can count on an on-time start to Tuesday evening's Tigers-Yankees game at Comerica Park. First pitch is at 7:10pm ET, and only the risk of scattered sprinkles exists with a gust front. It remains warm and muggy with late-day sunshine and temps hovering near or just below 80 degrees.

A cold front moves through tonight. Skies clear overnight, and it cools off quite a bit. Overnight lows will be in the mid 50s in Detroit and in the low 50s in surrounding cities.

Wednesday will start with sunshing, but families may need an umbrella by the end of the day. It will not be as warm with highs in the mid 70s. Skies become cloudy in the afternoon with widely scattered showers due to a trough of low pressure.

Thursday and the weekend will be sunny and gradually get warmer with high pressure arriving. The stable air means mostly sunny skies Thursday. Highs will barely make it to 75 degrees, though.

Friday will be warmer with blue skies and highs in the middle to upper 70s. Dry weather outside Ford Field for the Detroit Lions preseason game against the Super Bowl Campion New England Patriots with Michigan alum Tom Brady.

Hydrofest is all a go, for now, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 80 degrees. The wind will be light Friday and Saturday and moderate Sunday.
