Metro Detroit weather: Fall-like start in the 50s with temps in the 70s later

DETROITGood Friday morning! We are waking up to the coolest temps of the week with plenty of 40s in most suburbs outside of Wayne County and low 50s closer to Downtown Detroit.

We will see plenty of sunshine today and highs will head into the low 70s and that’s it. The winds will light but cool once again blowing in from the NNE 5-10 mph keeping the cooler air mass in place. We’d love it to be a little warmer, but it will be a beautiful early Fall-Like day.

Weekend forecast

The weekend should be bone dry with both humidity and rain chances. New model data suggests a little more cloud cover spreading over Metro Detroit on Sunday although the rain will evade our area all weekend long. Look for tons of sun Saturday with highs in the low to mid 70s as the cooler breezes will keep blowing off of the big lakes.

Our shot at 80 degrees Sunday may be a reach as the high clouds will overspread SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario through the end of the weekend.

Next week

Our next decent chance for rain will come late Monday into Tuesday of next week. Spotty or scattered showers likely in the late afternoon and evening Monday with a combination of a weak disturbance and some tropical moisture moving out of the Gulf of Mexico. All of that said, rain and storm coverage will still be limited due to our dry conditions as the wet weather approaches.

Still, scattered showers on Monday night and Tuesday are likely in the early parts of next week. You can track sky conditions, cooling temps, and storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
