Metro Detroit Weather: Remaining hot and humid Friday evening, this weekend

Friday evening temps in the 80s, heat index near 90

DETROIT – Welcome to Autumn 2017 on a summer-like day and evening, Friday! Highs near or above 90 degrees. Evening remains very warm. Detroit and Southeast Michigan still sizzle Saturday and Sunday.

Friday evening will be very warm and muggy. After highs in the low 90s in many spots, dinnertime temps will be in the 80s with heat indices near 90 degrees. Baseball fans must drink plenty of water and wear light and loose-fitting clothes like big Tigers jerseys as at Detroit plays Minnesota at Comerica Park. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Friday night will have fair skies through midnight, and it remains warm. Temps will be in the 70s late at night. Overnight lows will be in the mid and upper 60s. Some patchy fog will form by dawn.

Saturday will be sunny and scorching The record high is 89 degrees, from 1936. Afternoon temps will challenge that mark. Highs will be near 90, again. Amazing for the first full day of fall.

Remaining very warm and humid Saturday evening, even for the Spartans game against Notre Dame in East Lansing. Temps will be in the 80s, then 70s.

Sunday's record high is also 89 degrees, from 1891. Another tie or surpassed record is possible, again. Highs wil be in the upper 80s.

Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny and hot. Highs in the mid and upper 80s.

Wednesday and Thursday will bring relief. A cold front brings showers Wednesday with highs only near 80 degrees. Highs will be in the 70s Thursday with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies.
