Metro Detroit weather: Chance of scattered showers, thunder Wednesday

Temperatures more than 15 degrees above normal

DETROIT – Temperatures didn't break a record Tuesday, but we were more than 15 degrees above normal. Even though cooler weather lies ahead, we'll stay above normal through the middle of next week.

Clouds will start to increase late Tuesday night. Lows will be close to typical highs for early October, in the mid-60s.

Expect scattered showers and some thunder Wednesday. We'll likely get through the morning commute before the rain arrives. Chances for rain will remain through early evening. The more intense downpours and thunder will likely arrive by mid-afternoon. Check our 4ZONE Forecast page to see who gets the most rain. Expect cooler highs in the mid-70s.

Beyond that, temperatures will continue to cool through the end of the work week when highs return to the upper 60s. Friday will also bring back rain chances. Showers will be around on Saturday, as well.

Temperatures will start rebounding this weekend. See how high they'll go in the 10-day forecast.
