Metro Detroit weather forecast: Chilly Friday night, clouds gather

DETROIT – A lovely Friday evening follows a beautiful Friday afternoon. It remains crisp and becomes chillier. Dry weather for now, but get ready for showers and thunderstorms this weekend.

The Detroit Pistons host the Milwaukee Bucks for NBA basketball at LCA in downtown Detroit. Fans will need their favorite Pistons jackets and hats to remain warm outside the arena. As families go out to dinner, take a walk or take in some b-ball, temps will be in the 40s under partly cloudy skies.

Friday night will be dry and colder. Overnight lows will be in the middle and upper 30s. Make sure your heaters are working while keeping space heater from tipping over and away from anything flammable.

Saturday will be dry in the morning for families going to services, doing chores or attending little league games. Temps rise to the low and mid 50s in the afternoon under overcast skies. Showers arrive during the afternoon and evening.

College football fans will need ponchos and umbrellas to stay dry during the end of the Michigan State Spartans game agains Penn State in East Lansing starting at 12 noon ET and throughout the Michigan Wolverines game against Minnesota at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Sunday has stormy weather ahead of a cold front. There's a "Slight Risk" of strong to severe storms Sunday afternoon and evening; between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET. Highs in the 60s.

Monday will have falling temps through the 50s and 40s; breezy.
