Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures stay above normal this week

Colder weather on horizon

DETROIT – Even though temperatures are a long way from Tuesday's near-record finish, we're still above normal for this time of year, and we'll stay that way for much of the forecast period.

On Wednesday night, skies will start mostly clear, and we'll add in a few clouds toward dawn. Temperatures will hit their lows overnight, before rising to near 40 degrees by morning.

Another cold front is moving through Thursday, and this time there will be rain. Rain will begin shortly after the morning commute and should be wrapped up after lunch. Highs will get to the low 50s with breezy west winds in the afternoon.

Sunshine will come back Friday. Temperatures will be a bit cooler, but still above normal for Dec. 1. Look for afternoon numbers in the mid-40s.

Our weekend looks even warmer. Temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 40s Saturday, rising to highs near 50 degrees Sunday. Expect more sunshine than clouds for both days.

Our pattern will start to change by the middle of next week. Hint: It’s not getting warmer. See where temperatures are going in our 10-day forecast.
