Metro Detroit weather forecast: Cool and sunny start

DETROIT – Get ready for a cooler day on this Wednesday around Metro Detroit as lows are dropping into the mid and upper 20s as you head out with wind chills in the teens to low 20s.

We will start with some sunshine mixed with a little bit of cloud cover. And, we can expect a few more clouds or partly sunny skies through the afternoon as highs get into the low and mid 30s. The winds are lighter today NW 5-12 mph making it feel a few degrees cooler than those low and mid 30s.

It will be another cool day tomorrow with lows in the lower 20s and highs hitting the mid to maybe upper 30s under mostly cloudy skies. Clouds will be thicker in our North Zone Thursday and afternoon snow will be moving into Central and Northern Lower through the afternoon. The Thumb Region will see snow showers and may get a coating to an inch or more in some spots. But, the skies remain dry over most of Metro Detroit tomorrow.

Friday is looking a little cooler and drier than previous forecast data suggested. We may see a few light showers coming and going as drizzle and/or ice pellets. But it should be cloudy and on the dry side most of the day as highs take aim at 40 degrees one last time this year.

Look for snow showers Saturday morning as cold air begins to sink in and take hold for a while. We should see 30s Saturday with windy conditions becoming part of the forecast for a while. Look for scattered lake effect snow showers late Saturday, and on and off Sunday which is Christmas Eve. Also, a decent looking shot at snow moving in Sunday night and Christmas morning with snow showers continuing on Christmas day. Temps in the 20s Sunday and teens to maybe low 20s on Christmas -- Brrrrr!
