If you're heading Up North for the holiday, get ready for some snow.
While a "White Christmas" is still in the cards for Southeast Michigan - Northern Michigan is preparing for a heavy dose of snow this week.
The National Weather Service is calling for between four and six inches from Alpena to Traverse City.
Widespread light to moderate snow is expected across all of northern Michigan Thursday into early Friday. Travel will likely be impacted. Colder temperatures along with lake effect snow will follow this weekend into next week. Very cold temperatures and below zero wind chills are likely Christmas Day.

Look for scattered lake effect snow showers late Saturday, and on and off Sunday which is Christmas Eve. Also, a decent looking shot at snow moving in Sunday night and Christmas morning with snow showers continuing on Christmas day. Temps in the 20s Sunday and teens to maybe low 20s on Christmas -- Brrrrr!
