DETROIT – We're still on cruise control in the weather department in Metro Detroit. Sunny days and crisp nights will remain with us through Thursday.
On Wednesday night, we'll see patchy fog again, but it should be shallow and short-lived. Lows will be in the 40s.
On Friday, the changes will start to become apparent. A cold front will move into western Michigan. Rain might get as far as Lansing during the day, but we should remain dry with highs in the mid-70s.
Humidity will be a bit higher -- not muggy, but noticeable, considering how dry the air has been. Behind that front, the air will dry out again starting Saturday.
The weekend is still going to be a tough pill to swallow. Rain will arrive around midnight Friday and last through midday Saturday.
Temperatures will tumble to highs only in the mid-50s Saturday and 60 degrees Sunday. Even though most of the weekend will be dry with at least some sunshine, it will be breezy both days. Lows will drop to the 30s in spots by Sunday morning.
If this forecast seems familiar, it is. We saw a more than 20-degree drop in high temperatures on the same day in October last year. The swing this year won't be quite as dramatic, though.
Once the weekend changes take hold, be prepared for conditions to stay there. Temperatures will be below normal for the entire work week. Only slight improvements are expected for next weekend.
